The sixth grade is making their way through Greek and Roman art and a big part of that is Mythology. They kicked off the unit by looking at Grecian urns (3 main types) and depicting a familiar fairytale on the outside of their Vessel, much like ancient people used illustrations to tell a story or record history. We then moved onto the fun part of mythology! Mythological beasts and creatures!! We looked a a large range of monster types and got started. For this lesson we focused on building pinch pots, using coils to add detail and making sure that we slip and score to attach each piece! We need to wait for the pieces to dry before we can put them in the kiln! After they are fired we will glaze them and re-fire them before they can head home!
