7 &8 just finished MEXICO and are starting their drawing uint!! Check out our INSTAGRAM for daily updates! As most of my students are well aware I am in love with Instagram (insert heart eye emoji here). I overgram on our classroom account all the time! I also love to look at other peoples images as much as I love posting my own!! Here are my top 5:
Genius Hour is based on an idea that started at Google. Google allows their employees to use 20% of their time at work on a project that inspires them. Some pretty awesome things have been invented through Googles 20% time...think Gmail and its "unsend" feature. Your 20% time in the art room will be worth 20% of your overall grade for the semester. This is a BIG project, that deserves a BIG level of commitment! The sky is the limit for this project but there are a few art room limitations. I don't have clay for you to use, but that shouldn't stop you from being and using air dry clay from Walmart or Target. I don't have power tools for you to use that that shouldn't stop you from asking a mentor to help you out at home with a larger project. This will be worth 20% of your final art grade, similar to a final exam! You will have every Friday to work on this project and it needs to be worthy of 20% of your time! Think big & outside the box. The big questions is WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE BETTER AT? What is the final goal of your project! The form that each student needs to fill out is on google classroom! Be Awesome! After a long break it is time to get back in the swing of things around the art room! What's going on?! 5th Grade started working on Grant Wood inspired landscapes 6th Graders are creating their own mythical beasts out of clay. 7 & 8th grade are working on their hand lettered portfolio covers inspired by a place they have visited or would like to visit! If you have a student in 7 & 8th grade please check out the explore section of our website where you will find information on the projects your student is currently working on! Additionally ask them about Google Classroom! Reminder that if you want extra credit you need to bring in your signed parent letter ASAP! Roger the Robot Comes to Art ClassThe afternoon Science and Technology students created a remote controlled robot that stopped by for a visit and painted a beautiful picture! Science+Art= LOVE |
